India’s healthcare startup ecosystem received a significant boost as innovators, policymakers, healthcare leaders and investors gathered at IIT Delhi for a major discussion on the future of healthcare innovation and intellectual property-led growth.

Organized by the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi in partnership with Pfizer India under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and innovation platform Social Alpha, the event titled “Translating What’s Next: Securing the Future of Innovation” focused on accelerating India’s journey toward becoming a global healthcare innovation powerhouse.

The gathering served as a platform to examine how stronger intellectual property frameworks, commercialization strategies and ecosystem partnerships can help transform breakthrough healthcare ideas into scalable businesses and impactful solutions.

20 Healthcare Startups Chosen Under Pfizer INDovation Program

One of the event’s key announcements was the selection of 20 startups under the Pfizer INDovation Program (IP Support Edition) 2025–26.

Designed specifically for healthcare and biotechnology innovators, the program aims to strengthen startup capabilities in intellectual property protection, technology commercialization and investor readiness. Selected startups will receive expert guidance on patent strategy, legal support, commercialization planning and mentorship from industry professionals.

The initiative also provides opportunities to connect with investors and venture capital firms, helping founders navigate the path from innovation to market adoption.

According to organizers, intellectual property remains one of the most important yet underutilized assets for emerging healthcare ventures. By helping startups build robust IP portfolios early, the program seeks to enhance their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

Industry experts noted that startups that incorporate regulatory and IP considerations early in their development journey often gain stronger competitive advantages and attract greater investor confidence.

A Growing Opportunity for Healthcare Entrepreneurs

India’s healthcare innovation landscape has expanded rapidly in recent years, supported by advancements in digital health infrastructure, increasing venture capital interest, supportive policy initiatives and a growing community of deep-tech entrepreneurs.

Programs such as Pfizer INDovation are helping address some of the most critical challenges faced by early-stage ventures by providing access to expertise, networks and commercialization resources.
